In the Kitchen: Quiche!

It's Saturday so I say, "Shall we buy sausages for dinner?"

"No, let's have something different for a change," says my husband Andy.

"How about 'Stand and Stuff' quiche?"

"'Stand and Stuff' quiche?"

"I have a recipe. I found it online. It's very easy."

So Andy and Imogen start cooking and I grab my camera...

At dinner time...

"Ooh! These are delicious!"

"Can we have these again, please?"

Somehow I think we are going to be eating a lot of quiche...

Thanks for the recipe idea, Tanya!

A Spring Walk and Spring Cleaning

This morning Sophie and I grabbed our cameras and walked up to the village.

We strolled along the abandoned railway tracks and past the old station platform.

We spotted a pile of corrugated iron. Could it have been part of the old railway station?

This pile of junk turned out to be a pile of treasure. Look at all these colours, shapes and textures...

We snapped away, taking photo after photo... and I thought about how I could use my photos as inspiration for some artwork.

When we arrived home, I walked around the kitchen...

taking photos of pots and pans and whisks and colanders...

forks...

and cupboard doors...

and a self-portrait in the coffee machine...

And then I noticed something...

All the shiny surfaces were smudged with fingerprints, and the hanging saucepan rack was covered with dust.

So I found a bucket and filled it with water and climbed up onto the kitchen bench to clean the rack..

While I was up high, I noticed the ceiling fan was covered with dust so I climbed up onto a chair and cleaned it too.

While I was up on the chair, I noticed there was dust on the rail over the sliding door, so I dragged my chair over and climbed up and cleaned it as well.

Then I noticed more dust on top of the dresser.

But this time I closed my eyes, settled myself on the sofa and read a book.

Have you taken any photos recently? And are you reading anything interesting at the moment? I hope you haven't had to spring clean like me!

A Late Winter Walk Through the Bush

This morning, while I was running along the bush tracks close to home, I noticed a number of colourful flowers dotted here and there amongst the green leaves.

This afternoon, Sophie and I returned with our cameras (and Nora the puppy) to take some photos.

I don't know all the names of the flowers, but banksias are easy to identify...

There are a few different wattles blooming at the moment. The flowers on this one are arranged in spikes...

An amble along the tracks where we usually run...

The day began with a heavy frost but it warmed up and the sun appeared about midday.

We had a silly few minutes at the end of our walk, taking photos of ourselves. I propped my camera on top of a tall tree stump and clicked away...

I finally got a photo of my whole face...

We then wandered down the road and in a few moments we were back home.
